Coffee Talk #2 – Of Requirements and People

Olga Kluyovo Mar 18, 2022 Career & Life

Hi Olha, thanks for being part of our Coffee Chat series where we share insights into our work at LucaNet and at the same time learn more about our colleagues. Let’s start with a quick introduction. Tell us, when did you join LucaNet and what it is you do here?

I joined LucaNet in April 2021 as a Senior Business Analyst and I am responsible for creating different types of requirements. In the beginning of 2021, I was looking for a new challenge at a product company where I could grow further and develop. The application process was great, and I liked that everyone I talked to seemed so passionate about their projects. I’m very happy that I’m here now and part of such a fantastic team.

We want to get to know you a bit better, but before we dive deeper into the topic, let us stay true to this series' name and tell me, how many cups of coffee, tea, or beverage-of-choice do you have each morning? I personally am a coffee person.

I like it plain and simple – just a few cups of good strong black coffee throughout the day.

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

I usually start around 8:00 am by reviewing and finishing tasks from the previous day. That’s followed by our daily stand-up where we align within a bigger team. Like mentioned earlier, my job is to create different types of requirements. If we break it down to the essentials, there are three levels of requirements that we work with:

  1. Business requirements that we derive by doing a competitor analysis or market analysis.

  2. Stakeholder or user requirements that we discover by talking to people and asking lots of questions.

  3. Last but not least, the solution requirements which mean creating different documents such as user stories, UML models, or BPMN and many more.

It’s very fascinating to me how we can derive a real product from a simple idea. To be able to do so means also that a big part of my day is talking to different stakeholders to make sure that we are all on the same page. For example, talking to our developers, the QA-team, project managers or our board.

Sounds interesting! I can imagine that by now, you must know a lot of colleagues. But let me know, what exactly excites you most about your projects?

Exactly, and actually that is what excites me most: The people that I get to talk to, have an exchange with. Everyone is very professional. We share the same vision and are working towards our goals together. My team is also very open-minded. I can always propose something new and they support my ideas and trust in me.

That’s nice to hear. What else fascinates you about working here at LucaNet?

I find it amazing that I have so much freedom to really plan out and balance my private life and professional life. I can always tell my team and supervisors about my plans for the future, and together, we figure out a way to make it happen. Most of the time, I work remotely, and I love that I can have a break during the day and for example walk my dog and play a little bit with him before going back to work.

Thanks a lot for your contribution and insights into your work life at LucaNet. However, we have one last question that we ask all colleagues at the end of each coffee chat. What are the three things that you believe characterize LucaNet and that you would love to still see in five years.

To be honest, that’s pretty clear for me: It’s the shared vision, openness, and the way we continuously support each other. I feel like I am repeating myself, but I have never worked at a company where I experience such a team spirit.
